What is Restylane?

Restylane is an injectable dermal filler that enhances your natural looks by restoring your skin’s volume, creating softness and revitalizing your appearance.

It is a versatile facial filler that can be used to help minimize deep wrinkles in the forehead, or the nasolabial folds, (lines that run from the corner of your nose down to the corner of your mouth). Restylane can also be used to enhance lip volume for a natural-looking pout, as well as correct imperfections such as deep acne scars or uneven lips.

How Does Restylane Work?

Restylane is a crystal-clear gel produced biotechnologically using stabilized, non-animal hyaluronic acid and water. The hyaluronic acid is a tissue-friendly substance closely resembling the hyaluronic acid that occurs naturally in the body. By replenishing nature’s supply of hyaluronic acid, Restylane revitalizes and plumps up the skin, instantly diminishing the appearance of lines and giving a softer look.

Does Restylane Hurt?

Some people may experience the treatment as a mild discomfort. Ice or a local anesthetic cream can be used to minimize any discomfort.

Is Restylane Safe?

More than 6 million treatments have been carried out since the launch of Restylane in 1996. Some common injection-related reactions might occur after a Restylane injection; they typically resolve spontaneously within one or two days after injection. These reactions include redness, swelling, tenderness, or bruising at the injection site. After a lip enhancement, your lips may be swollen for one to two days.

Further, Radiesse is made of calcium hydroxylapatite (CaHA), a biocompatible substance that’s identical to what’s naturally found in the body. Radiesse does not contain any animal- or human-derived components and it has a minimal risk of allergic reaction.

After injection, Radiesse will not migrate to other parts of the body. Over time, it degrades naturally into calcium and phosphate ions that are safely metabolized by the body’s own processes. .

What to Expect After Restylane Treatment

You can expect slight redness, swelling, pain, tenderness, or bruising following your Restylane treatment. This is the same as you might expect with any type of injection. However, the discomfort is temporary and generally disappears after a few days. With lip enhancement, it is wise to choose your treatment time with care since your lips may become swollen and appear slightly uneven for one to two days.
