We’re all about keeping things clean and green here at KAPLAN MD Skincare, but we know that sometimes it can get a bit overwhelming trying to understand the steps we can take to help our planet. We’ve rounded up three easy beauty swaps you can make today for a more environmentally-friendly routine.
Did you know that one easy way to help reduce waste is to take single-use cotton out of our routines? Regular cotton pads don't biodegrade due to the bleaching and mixing processes used to create them, which is why we recommend swapping your toners for one with a facial mist capability (like our Clarifying Toner). Facial mist toners weed out the need for a cotton round since all you need to do after misting is pat the product onto the skin with your fingertips until absorbed.
While makeup wipes seem to be like an easy solution to remove makeup - they are really bad for the environment (and not to mention your skin)! Since makeup wipes are single-use, many of them end up in landfills and most are not biodegradable and the plastic fibers associated with the wipes contaminate our water systems. Ditch the wipes and switch to a double cleanse instead to remove any makeup and impurities and fully cleanse and clean the skin.
According to Good Housekeeping, the average woman owns around 40 cosmetics products. It’s recommended to minimize your routine and streamline your products to help reduce waste and minimize resources used for production. We recommend sticking to the essentials and adding in any targeted treatments if needed.
