Absolutely not. Ultraviolet radiation, whether from the actual sun or from a tanning bed, is a carcinogen (similar to cigarettes). And just like there is no safe amount of smoking, there is no such thing as a “safe tan”. The damage it does, even if only sporadically, contributes to advanced aging as well as skin cancer. Anyone who has ever used a tanning bed has a 67% increased risk of developing squamous cell carcinoma, and a 29% risk of developing basal cell carcinoma. People who use a tanning bed before age 35 increase their risk of melanoma by 75%. These numbers are staggering. Protect yourself, and get a spray tan instead.
